The challenge

The network combines pumped and gravity transmission from HPT-2 to Ghanman with long pumped routes to Buraydah and Al Quarna. Multiple supply nodes and route lengths require a system-wide understanding of transient behaviour.

Our contribution

Pipelab performs bid-stage transient hydraulic studies and surge equipment design for the 139 km HPT-2–Ghanman route, the 336 km Ghanman–Buraydah route and the 384 km Ghanman–Al Quarna route. Vent and drain calculations cover all pipeline sections.

Engineering outcome

The engineering supports the bid-stage definition of hydraulic protection and operating requirements across a strategic network serving the central region.
