TransTank Gelsenkirchen · Piping Stress Analysis
Structural integrity assessment of thermal-oil and product piping associated with a chemical reactor in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, in accordance with DIN EN 13480-3.

The challenge
The thermal-oil and product piping must be assessed for dead weight, minimum and maximum operating temperatures (Tmin and Tmax), and operating pressure. The assessment must establish support loads, evaluate pipe clamps, and determine the forces and moments acting on supports and reactor nozzles.
Our contribution
Pipelab’s scope combines both piping systems in a coordinated stress-analysis assignment: developing the piping stress models, defining materials and boundary conditions, implementing the relevant load cases, and evaluating stresses and support and reactor-nozzle loads in accordance with DIN EN 13480-3.
Engineering outcome
The project supports the construction of a chemical reactor by providing the technical basis for assessing piping integrity, support and clamp requirements, and loads transferred to reactor nozzles.
